Tragic Ambush on River Nile
In a recent incident, at least 32 passengers traveling by boat from Upper Nile and Unity states to Juba lost their lives in an armed ambush along the River Nile in South Sudan’s Lakes State. This information comes from one of the five survivors who spoke anonymously for security reasons.
The survivor reported that the boat, initially carrying 37 individuals, was attacked by unidentified gunmen during the journey last Friday. Only five passengers survived, with the others tragically killed.
Details of the Ambush
“We were attacked while traveling from Upper Nile State and Unity State to Juba. Thirty-two people were killed during the ambush, and only five of us survived. The boat was also taken by the criminals,” the survivor recounted.
