THE AFRICA TIMES | KENYA — Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC), local administrators, and residents of Kajiado North have reached a consensus to collaborate on mitigating flooding risks along the Riruta-Ngong Meter Gauge Railway (MGR) route. This initiative is particularly pertinent in light of the impending El Niño rains.
The partnership will focus on identifying and addressing drainage and stormwater challenges along the railway corridor. Residents have expressed concerns that redirected water channels could lead to flooding in their homes.
Public Participation and Immediate Solutions
During a public forum at Ngong Social Hall, John Maina from KRC’s engineering team indicated the corporation’s willingness to engage with residents for immediate solutions, despite an ongoing court order halting construction activities.
