THE AFRICA TIMES | KENYA —
Construction of the Sh16 billion Taifa Gas Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) terminal at the Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Mombasa is progressing steadily. This facility is poised to become East Africa’s largest LPG terminal.
Project Overview
The Taifa Gas storage plant is a significant energy project nearing completion. It aims to break a long-standing market monopoly, reduce cooking gas prices, and transform Mombasa into a major East African LPG hub.
President William Ruto presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the terminal on February 24, 2023. The entry of Taifa Gas, controlled by Tanzanian billionaire Rostam Aziz, marks a vital trade partnership between Kenya and Tanzania.
