Government Activates Ebola Preparedness Measures
The Government of South Sudan has initiated nationwide Ebola preparedness and response measures. This decision follows confirmed outbreaks of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and neighboring Uganda, raising concerns about potential cross-border transmission.
In a statement dated May 20, Acting Minister of Health Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth outlined the intensified surveillance and emergency preparedness efforts implemented by the Ministry of Health and the National Public Health Institute (NPHI). These measures aim to safeguard the country against a potential outbreak.
