THE AFRICA TIMES | SUDAN — A group of Sudanese victims has formally requested the European Union to impose sanctions on senior officials from the United Arab Emirates. The request also targets several Emirati and Sudanese businessmen, alongside four companies accused of supporting the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) during Sudan’s ongoing civil war.
Formal Submission to the EU
The request was submitted on 10 May 2026 by DEMAIN, a France-based law firm representing the victims. A press statement was issued in Paris on 11 May, detailing the submission.
DEMAIN petitioned the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, to launch investigations. The law firm is advocating for targeted sanctions under the EU Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime.
