AWEIL – The Ajuendit community in Greater Ajuet has recently elected new leadership committees. These committees aim to address development needs and enhance local organization.
The election occurred after a community gathering held over the weekend. These committees will focus on the Maluil-Akong area.
Community Gathering and Election
Over 500 individuals attended the meeting. Attendees included women, youth, chiefs, and public officials. Some traveled from Aweil Town in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.
Discussions centered on identifying capable leaders. These leaders will steer community development initiatives.
Focus on Community-Driven Development
Mou Aleu leads the newly formed youth committee. He stated that the elections sought respected individuals.
These individuals can mobilize resources for community-driven development. The aim is to avoid politically motivated actions.
Aleu emphasized the community’s need for better schools. He also mentioned the desire for community members to contribute to local needs.
Committee Objectives and Structure
The newly inaugurated committees comprise chiefs, women, and youth. These committees will address practical household issues in Maluil-Akong.
The committees will focus on issues potentially overlooked by the government.
Establishing a Guiding Constitution
Dr. Joseph Machok Makak leads the intellectuals’ committee. Members have begun drafting a constitution.
The constitution will guide conduct and operations within the structure. The document will also define leadership transitions.
Dr. Machok stated that each committee contains 17 members. The guiding document ensures a non-partisan approach to community issues.
Cooperation and Historical Context
Dr. Machok indicated openness to cooperation with neighboring communities. He welcomed genuine, community-focused contributions.
He noted shared interests with neighbors in Awiil and Ajuet-thii. He welcomed their participation and support.
Maintaining an Apolitical Stance
Analysts cite mixed outcomes from regional local associations. Some achieved progress, while others collapsed.
This collapse occurred due to political exploitation. The Ajuendit committees aim to maintain an apolitical platform.
The committees will prioritize development and unity. They will actively guard against external political interference.
