THE AFRICA TIMES | NAMIBIA — TotalEnergies has successfully completed a transaction with Galp, granting the French energy major operatorship of Namibia’s PEL83 offshore license. This license includes the significant Mopane oil discovery as TotalEnergies prepares to resume appraisal drilling, aiming for a final investment decision (FID) in 2028.
Transaction Details
As per the agreement, TotalEnergies maintains a 40% operated interest in PEL83. Galp also holds a 40% interest, while Namibia’s state-owned National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) and Custos each hold 10%.
Furthermore, the transaction provides Galp with a 10% participating interest in PEL56, which encompasses the Venus discovery, and a 9.39% interest
