THE AFRICA TIMES | KENYA — More than 100 mourners from Mombasa are traveling to Bondo, Siaya County.
They will attend the burial of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, scheduled for Sunday.
Mourners’ Journey to Bondo
Most of the mourners are from Nyali Sub-County. Said Abdalla, known as Saido, sponsored their travel in two buses.
Abdalla is a long-time ally of the deceased politician. The buses departed from Mombasa on Friday night.
Mombasa’s Political Landscape
Mombasa has been a stronghold for Odinga for over two decades. The ODM party dominated the region in the last general election.
The party secured key positions. These include the gubernatorial, senatorial, and women representative seats.
Electoral Dominance in Mombasa
Additionally, ODM won five of six parliamentary positions. They also secured 27 of 30 county assembly seats.
