Economic Concerns and Government Action President Boakai acknowledged an “economic contradiction.” He believes it requires urgent government action. His speech highlighted concerns about reduced import costs.These reductions seemingly do not benefit consumers. The committee will uncover reasons for sustained price hikes. They will also propose policy interventions.The goal is to ease the burden on Liberian citizens. Call for Inclusive Investment Policies Emmet L. Dunn is the President’s Special Envoy for Partnerships and Philanthropy. He called for a reexamination of Liberia’s investment policies.He emphasized strengthening the “Liberianization” of the economy. He suggests reserving key sectors for Liberians.Foreign investors should allocate shares to local communities. This could be through individual ownership or cooperatives.Dunn argued that reforms are crucial. They will foster an independent and resilient economy. He wants it less reliant on external interests. Memorial Initiative for Reconciliation President Boakai also unveiled plans for a new national monument. It will commemorate civil war victims and international peacekeepers.This gesture aims toward national healing.He proposed July 30 as a National Day of Prayer.
