THE AFRICA TIMES | KENYA — Six developers and caretakers have been arrested in Syokimau for illegally discharging untreated sewage and wastewater into the environment. This action is part of a larger enforcement operation targeting public health violations.
Enforcement Operation Details
The suspects were apprehended during a crackdown by the Machakos County Enforcement team. This team operates under the Department of Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Roads.
Government’s Response
Benedict Ngumbau, Chief Officer for Housing and Urban Development, confirmed the arrests. The operation was prompted by persistent complaints from residents regarding raw sewage flowing into open areas and residential neighborhoods.
