Clarification in Legal Proceedings Against Dr. Riek Machar
JUBA – Prosecutors for suspended First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny, alongside seven co-defendants, clarified on Friday that their recent counter-application before the Special Court does not intend to reopen examinations of accused individuals whose questioning has already concluded.
During the 113 sessions held on Friday, lead prosecutor Ajo Onyi Ohis stated that the counter-application seeks clarification on the appropriate statutory procedures to be followed for the examination of the remaining accused individuals.
Equal Treatment for All Accused
Ohis dismissed claims that the counter-application aimed to single out Machar for distinct treatment. He asserted that the clarification requested should apply equally and prospectively to all remaining accused individuals.
