Unions representing thousands of employees in South Sudan’s oil sector, private companies, and international organizations have issued a threat to boycott the National Social Insurance Fund (NSIF) First National Engagement Symposium. This decision stems from unresolved issues related to governance, legal frameworks, and implementation protocols.
Formal Notification to Labour Ministry
On 21 July 2026, a joint letter addressed to Labour Minister Anthony Lino Makana was sent by union representatives. They formally announced their intention not to participate in the symposium, scheduled for 28 July at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Juba, unless specific demands were met.
