THE AFRICA TIMES | KENYA — On the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of self-rule, the minority Ilchamus (Njemps) community in Baringo County celebrated not only their independence but also a newfound peace and the establishment of a new Sub-county, facilitated by government initiatives.
Despite enduring the scars of insecurity stemming from banditry and cattle rustling, the community gathered at Mukutani Comprehensive School to express gratitude to the government and the Head of State for the prevailing peace.
Two years prior, Mukutani represented a perilous landscape. Bandits, armed and aggressive, would patrol the area, ambushing unsuspecting residents.
