Allegations of Dehumanization in Detention
Suspended Minister of Petroleum Puot Kang Chol has accused members of the National Security Service of humiliating detainees during ongoing high-profile trials. The allegations surfaced during his sixth testimony before the Special Court in Juba.
Kang Chol reported that detainees, including himself, faced dehumanization in custody, notably being labeled “dogs.” He highlighted a disturbing message found inside the vehicle transporting them to court.
“We have undergone enough humiliation, including being referred to as dogs,” Kang Chol stated. He detailed how a message read “seven dogs jebu” was noted inside the transport vehicle, raising concerns with the former Director General of National Security Services.
