THE AFRICA TIMES | ALGERIA — Algeria has announced the arrest of 77 individuals in a significant operation targeting irregular migration, with 67 of those arrested identified as Moroccan nationals.
Details of the Operation
The Algerian police reported on Facebook that the Oran police successfully thwarted a clandestine migration plan by apprehending 10 organizers. The operation allegedly began with the initial arrest of three organizers along with 51 Moroccans who were found in vehicles and a bus en route to a designated departure point on one of Oran’s beaches.
Following investigations aimed at uncovering the network behind this migration attempt, authorities executed a raid at a residence believed to be sheltering candidates for migration. This raid led to the capture of an additional seven organizers and 16 Moroccans.
