African governments and development partners have been urged to significantly increase investment in agriculture. Stakeholders must also ensure that farmers have a stronger role in policy formulation and investment decisions to unlock the continent’s food production potential.
Launch of the Farmers Organization Hub Initiative
This call to action was made during a regional farmers workshop in Nairobi. The German development agency (GIZ) launched a four-year initiative known as the Farmers Organization Hub (FO-HUB), aimed at strengthening farmer organizations across Africa.
GIZ Senior Technical Advisor Kennedy Okech emphasized that the initiative seeks to enhance the capacity of farmer organizations. This will enable them to participate effectively in policy formulation and agricultural investment decisions.
