Election Preparations Under Review
The Northern Bahr el Ghazal State High Elections Committee is set to inspect all former constituencies and polling stations utilized during South Sudan’s 2010 general elections. This initiative is part of the ongoing preparations for the country’s prolonged and anticipated polling process.
Joseph Akuei Yak, the chairperson of the state’s election committee, spoke to journalists last Thursday. He emphasized the importance of confirming the status of the polling stations to ensure they are suitable for the upcoming elections.
Retaining Established Constituencies
Yak revealed that the National Elections Commission has mandated that the 2010 constituencies remain unchanged. This decision comes in light of the absence of a new population census that would warrant the creation of additional electoral constituencies.
