THE AFRICA TIMES | KENYA — The Ministry of Education has announced plans to establish a multi-sectoral team comprising all education stakeholders. This team will gather insights that will inform strategies aimed at addressing emerging challenges within the sector.
This initiative follows a tragic arson attack at Utumishi Girls School in Gilgil on May 28, which resulted in the loss of 16 students’ lives and left over 70 injured.
The unrest stemming from this incident has impacted more than 200 schools across Kenya, causing extensive property damage valued in millions of shillings.
Government Response to Unrest
According to Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Migos Ogamba, the newly formed team will commence its work shortly. Its primary objective is to develop strategies that will lay the groundwork for upcoming policies and laws designed to address the challenges
