Zechariah Malual Anyuon, Rumbek East County Commissioner, confirmed the incident. He stated that the girl was found deceased on Wednesday.
According to Malual, community members discovered her after she went missing. They found her hanging from a tree near her residence.
Family Circumstances
The victim was a Primary Six student, according to reports. Her father explained the events leading up to the suicide to authorities.
He said the girl was prohibited from attending a local wrestling event. The event was organized in the area while her parents were at a marriage ceremony.
Malual explained that the girl’s brother prevented her from attending the event. This refusal reportedly led to her decision to end her life.
