THE AFRICA TIMES | KENYA — The government has pledged to support the revival of the Nyamache and Itumbe tea factories in Kisii County. This initiative will focus on crop rejuvenation, modernising processing equipment, and implementing measures to curb tea hawking that undermines factory operations.
Government Support and Investment Plans
Principal Secretary for Agriculture Dr. Paul Kipronoh Ronoh announced that the government would back the factories’ request for Sh250 million to modernise processing equipment. This support is contingent upon technical teams cooperating with government officials to finalise equipment specifications.
The proposed investment will fund the acquisition of two automatic withering machines, a CTC dryer, new orthodox tea-processing machinery, and necessary building structures for both factories.
