This initiative aims to increase annual coffee production from 50,000 metric tonnes to over 150,000 metric tonnes by the 2028/29 financial year, as reported by the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation.
Objectives of the Revitalisation Programme
Wycliffe Oparanya, the Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development, outlined the programme’s objectives. The initiative focuses on expanding coffee cultivation, strengthening cooperatives, and providing crucial support to farmers. These efforts aim to restore Kenya’s status as a leading coffee producer globally.
