On May 27, 2026, in Juba, key political figures—including Public Service Minister Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth—issued a press statement. They rejected assertions made in a recent U.S. Department of State announcement, which imposed visa restrictions on individuals accused of undermining peace in South Sudan, and a report by Médecins Sans Frontières titled *“They Killed Them While We Were Walking: Escalating Violence in South Sudan.”*
