THE AFRICA TIMES | KENYA — Leaders, clergy, and citizens convened at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu on Saturday. They gathered to honor the late former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga.
Mourners Gather
Supporters from the Nyanza region arrived at the venue early, around 6:00 a.m. A military helicopter transported the body, arriving at approximately 8:54 a.m.
The clergy led a short prayer service, including a traditional recital. Then mourners respectfully paid their respects to the leader.
Public Viewing and Emotions
Despite the large crowd, people remained calm. Nevertheless, emotions were palpable as people mourned Odinga’s death.
Odinga passed away on October 15 in India, while receiving medical treatment.
Viewing Extension
Public viewing continued until 3:00 p.m. PS Dr. Raymond Omolo stated an extension would have been considered if necessary.
