Interpol Praises Morocco’s Security Efforts

Interpol’s President, Major General Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi, has lauded Morocco. He commended the nation for its support of international security. He also acknowledged Morocco’s efforts in strengthening joint actions to protect communities globally.

Al Raisi delivered these remarks at the 93rd Interpol General Assembly opening. The assembly commenced today in Marrakech.

In his address, Al Raisi expressed gratitude to King Mohammed VI and Moroccan security officials. He specifically thanked Abdellatif Hammouchi, the General Director of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST).

Interpol stated that the General Assembly strengthens international cooperation in policing and security. It also enables member states to shape the future of the world’s largest police organization.

Interpol’s Modernization Efforts

Al Raisi emphasized Interpol’s activities since he assumed his role as president. He focused on modernizing crucial operations within the organization.

He stated that member states’ collective efforts have transformed vision into reality. This was achieved through global coordination in over 200 cross-border operations.

These operations resulted in drug seizures, and the recovery of stolen vehicles. The recovered vehicles were valued at $17.3 billion.

Recovery notices were issued for stolen assets worth $19 billion. These actions protected lives and disrupted criminal networks.

Database Growth and Innovation

Al Raisi stressed that database searches and checks have doubled. Actions reached 7.8 billion, a near 100% increase since 2021.

The Interpol head emphasized that the current assembly reflects a culture of innovation. This approach marked a shift towards integrating technology in the organization’s work.

Al Raisi stated that this is the first fully digital General Assembly. Documents are available via a mobile application and secure web platform.

93rd General Assembly in Marrakech

The 93rd General Assembly officially began today, convening delegations from numerous countries. Participants included representatives from Palestine, Kuwait, and Iran, among others.

Hammouchi delivered the opening statement, reaffirming Morocco’s commitment to international security. He reiterated Morocco’s dedication to fostering global cooperation.

Hammouchi stated that hosting the session reflects Morocco’s dedication to strengthening multilateral security cooperation. It also highlights their participation in the international coalition against transnational crime.

The General Assembly will include a vote for new members of the Executive Committee. The election includes the position of Interpol president, as current mandates expire.
