THE AFRICA TIMES | NIGER — The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved an immediate disbursement of approximately $33 million to Niger after completing the ninth review of the country’s 60-month Extended Credit Facility (ECF). This decision comes in light of strong program performance despite ongoing economic and security challenges.
Financial Support Details
The recent disbursement increases total IMF financing under the program to around $342 million, following a meeting of the Executive Board. Niger’s ECF arrangement, initially approved in December 2021, has been extended until December 2026. This extension allows more time for the authorities to implement necessary structural reforms.
