Army Chief Directs Integration of Former Opposition Forces
JUBA – Gen. Santino Deng Wol, the Chief of Defence Forces in South Sudan, has issued directives for the integration of various former opposition groups into the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) and other organized forces.
This statement was released on Monday and targets rebel factions that had defected to the government and pledged allegiance during Gen. Santino’s previous tenure. Despite their alignment with the government, these groups have not yet undergone formal integration.
Details of the Directive
In his statement, Gen. Santino confirmed, “All former opposition allied forces that abandoned rebellion are urged to remain prepared for further directives regarding reporting to designated training centers for reorganization and integration into SSPDF.”
