THE AFRICA TIMES | CONGO — Doha – Qatar facilitated a crucial trilateral meeting in Doha on March 18, 2025. Key leaders from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda participated. The meeting aimed to resolve the ongoing crisis in Eastern DRC. Qatar Hosts Key Leaders His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani hosted the meeting. The Emir of the State of Qatar welcomed President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and President Félix Tshisekedi of the DRC. They gathered to further discussions. Acknowledging Progress The leaders acknowledged advancements made through the Luanda and Nairobi processes. They also noted the joint EAC-SADC summit held in Tanzania in February. These actions demonstrate a multifaceted approach. The leaders reaffirmed their collective commitment to the agreed ceasefire. That commitment was established at the Tanzania summit. They expressed determination to continue dialogue. The goal is to create lasting peace. Gratitude Expressed Presidents Kagame and Tshisekedi thanked Qatar for hosting the meeting.
