African Lion 2026 Planning Meeting Underway

A key planning meeting for African Lion 2026 commenced on December 8 in Agadir. African Lion is known as the largest military training exercise in Africa. The meeting concludes on December 12.

Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces (FAR) released a statement regarding the upcoming event. The next African Lion military exercise will occur from April 20 to May 8.

US Air Force Col. Seward Matwick stated the exercise exemplifies a “robust and enduring defense partnership.” This partnership is between Rabat and Washington. It continues to grow stronger.

US Army Maj. Jonathan F. Alvis acknowledged the exceptional coordination with Moroccan forces. He is the SETAF-AF logistics planner for African Lion 2025. He emphasized a seamless working rhythm.

US Africa Command Highlights Partnership

General Michael Langley, Commander of US Africa Command (US AFRICOM), echoed sentiments of strong ties. This statement was released in March, further emphasizing the solid partnership.

General Langley recalled the delivery of AH-64 Apache helicopters to Morocco. This transfer reflects a strong and growing bilateral partnership. It signifies deepened military cooperation.
