Final Address by EU Delegation Deputy Head
The outgoing Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union to South Sudan, Lothar Jaschke, delivered his final public address on Tuesday. During the 2026 Annual Gender Forum in Juba, he urged citizens to support women’s leadership in upcoming elections.
Response to Recent Violence
As Co-Chair of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Working Group, Jaschke expressed profound sorrow over recent violent attacks on UN peacekeepers and humanitarian aid workers. He condemned the deadly incidents related to UNMISS peacekeepers in Jonglei and lamented the loss of 36 humanitarian workers in 2026.
