Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy CS, William Kabogo, launched the Ndumberi Jitume Digital Hub. He emphasized that the facility will empower young individuals with essential tools. This will enable effective participation in the growing digital economy.
During the event, the CS also presided over the graduation of 200 youth. They underwent training through the government’s Ajira Digital Programme.
Empowering Youth Through Digital Skills
“This hub is a doorway to employment,” Kabogo stated. “It will encourage innovation.” He added that young people now possess the knowledge to compete globally.
Consequently, Kabogo announced plans to establish similar digital hubs nationwide. This initiative marks a major step in Kenya’s digital transformation. It also offers new avenues for young adults to earn income.
Ajira Digital Program and Training Details
Graduates completed training programs in various specialities. The programs ranged from three to six months. These disciplines included Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, and Data Analysis.
Training also covered Digital Marketing, Graphics Design, Virtual Assistance, and Financial Literacy. These diverse skills aim to prepare youth for various digital opportunities.
Infrastructure Development in Kiambu County
CS Kabogo discussed infrastructure development in Kiambu County. The government plans a significant upgrade. This involves constructing a dual carriageway from Muthaiga to Ndumberi.
The highway is expected to alleviate traffic. It should unlock the region’s vast economic potential. Kabogo urged residents to focus on development projects. These are implemented by President William Ruto’s Administration.
The government will work with communities. This ensures the completion of ongoing development initiatives. These initiatives deliver the intended benefits to the people of Kenya.
Local Perspectives and Future Plans
Kiambu MP, Machua Waithaka, commended the digital hub initiative. He believes it will transform Ndumberi. It will become a model for digital training.
Waithaka mentioned that the hub trained about 200 young people. This was accomplished in under a year. Over 100 await the next intake scheduled for January.
The MP requested support from the Ministry. He wants more computers and high-speed internet for expansion. This support addresses growing demand.
“Ndumberi Jitume Digital Hub is now a centre of excellence,” Waithaka noted. “Many visitors learn from our operations.”
Affordable Housing and Job Creation
The MP highlighted progress in the Affordable Housing Programme. Construction of more than 1,000 housing units will begin in April 2026. This project is projected to create nearly 500 jobs daily.
