Judicial Ruling in Al Jazira State
A criminal court in Al Jazira State has mandated a two-year placement. The minor will be sent to a juvenile reform and rehabilitation center. This follows his conviction for collaborating with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Sudanese prosecutors announced the ruling. The Criminal Court of Al Kamilin delivered the judgement.
Details of the Case
The juvenile, identified as “H.M.”, was found guilty of involvement with RSF fighters. This involvement happened in the Al Kamilin area. The Public Prosecution’s media office provided the details.
The child carried a weapon and wore RSF military attire. He also followed RSF elements in Kijanna village, Al Jazira State. These actions led the court to apply juvenile offender laws.
Context of the Decision
The ruling aligns with broader judicial actions by Sudanese authorities. These actions target individuals accused of involvement in the ongoing conflict. Minors are sent to rehabilitation centers, not adult prisons.
This approach adheres to established child protection protocols. These procedures prioritize rehabilitation over punitive measures for young offenders.
Impact of the Sudanese Conflict
Sudan’s war began in April 2023, pitting the RSF against the Sudanese Armed Forces. This conflict has increasingly engulfed civilians and minors. The fighting particularly intensified in late 2024 and 2025.
Central and eastern regions have seen increased conflict. As a result, more civilians and minors are drawn into the fighting.
